Mrs. Battaglia
I have been teaching first grade for many years at Stratford Elementary. I have lived in Lemoore since 1961. I am a graduate of California State University, Fresno, and received my teaching credential from Fresno Pacific University. In addition, I received my masters in curriculum and instruction from Chapman University.
Curriculum
for first grade students is based on the California State Standards.
The day is spent with students participating in a language arts program
that includes DISTAR and leveled reading groups, spelling, creative
writing, grammar, punctuation, and capitalization skills. A list of
the English Language Arts standards can be found on the California Department of Education web site.
The
Houghton Mifflin Mathematics program for first grade is the main focus
in math. Included in the program are basic math skills and “hands on”
activities. A list of the Mathematics standards also can be found on the California Department of Education web site.
